  • agencies appointing Accountable AI Officials & issuing AI transparency statements.
  • the Australian Government’s first AI assurance framework
  • guidance on the use of generative AI tools in government
  • AI fundamentals training for the Australian Public Service

Oct 2020 – May 2024

  • Cyclone Reinsurance Pool: Designed policy & legislation for a reinsurance pool backed by a $10 billion guarantee, delivering premium relief to households in northern Australia.
  • Payments System Reform: Modernised oversight of $300 billion in daily non-cash payments, balancing innovation with systemic-risk safeguards.
  • Managed three teams and received Deputy Secretary’s Award for Service Excellence (2022).

Research Economist — Productivity Commission

Jan 2019 – Oct 2020

  • Co‑authored Remote Area Tax Concessions and Payments review tabled in Parliament, including leading quantitative analysis of the cost‑of‑living impact of remoteness.
  • Co‑authored report on Victoria’s Commercial Land Use Zoning, widely cited in state and national‑level productivity, competition & land use reform efforts.

Projects

AI Summarisation Tool

Coded a Python & AI-based tool to summarise and query large sets of documents. Piloted across multiple teams and projects in the Australian Treasury in 2023. Later oversaw AI summarisation for 2024 consultation on mandatory AI guardrails.

Interactive AI Storytelling App

Built a real-time ‘choose-your-own adventure’ app that generates narrated and illustrated stories to entertain my nieces and nephews.
